Getting to Bridge of Allan

Bridge of Allan Location

Our town is wonderfully situated in Central Scotland, right between Glasgow and Edinburgh, just 3 miles from Stirling – the gateway to the Scottish Highlands. With great transport and local connections, Bridge of Allan is also a perfect base to explore much of Scotland from. Scroll down to view a map of the town.

Visit by Train

Direct trains to Bridge of Allan run regularly from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and Perth. It takes as little as 45 minutes by train from Glasgow Queen Street, 60 minutes from Edinburgh Waverley and a mere 4 minutes from Stirling. You can even reach us from London in under six hours, with just one station change!

The train station is a five minute walk from Bridge of Allan’s main street and has wheelchair accessible platforms (the ramp to the road from platform two is rather long and steep). Be aware there is no taxi rank at the station, so if this is a service you need, we recommend booking in advance. A range of local taxi firms are listed in our A-Z business directory

Visit by Car

Bridge of Allan is around an hour’s drive from Edinburgh. Head North on the M9 until you reach the Keir Roundabout at Junction 11. We are a five minute drive from here, on the A9 south road.

We are just 40 minutes from Glasgow by car. Follow the M80 Northbound, which will merge with the M9. At Junction 11, the Keir Roundabout, the A9 south bound will bring you into Bridge of Allan in around five minutes.

From Perth, simply follow the A9 south for around 40 minutes, which will bring you right to us!

If you’re driving to us from Stirling, take the A9 over the River Forth, then either follow this through Causewayhead or turn off onto the B823 to get to us via Cornton. Both routes take around ten minutes.

The main street through Bridge of Allan is a busy road, so we recommend using one of our many car parks easily accessible from here instead. Parking is available on Allanvale Road, Fountain Road, Union Street and at the train station.

Visit by Bus

Direct buses from Perth to Bridge of Allan run several times a day and take around 90 minutes, travelling through Crieff, Braco and Dunblane.

To get here by bus from Glasgow or Edinburgh, we recommend travelling to Stirling, then taking a connecting bus from there.

Buses direct from Stirling Bus Station run several times per hour and take around 15 minutes. Or, take one of the regular University buses, hop off at the campus entrance & enjoy a leisurely 15-20 minute walk from there into Bridge of Allan.

Visit by Bike

It takes just 20 minutes to cycle from Stirling city centre to Bridge of Allan - and no matter which of the predominantly flat routes you take, you're guaranteed to enjoy breathtaking views of Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument and surrounding hills. Visit by Foot

If you're feeling leisurely, Bridge of Allan is an hour's walk from the centre of Stirling, the most popular routes being along the B823 through Cornton, skirting the River Forth & River Allan - or route 765 through Causewayhead, under the Wallace Monument & along past Stirling University.
